A man wielding a fake gun and a long sword threatened a meatball vendor, only to be overpowered and captured by the vendor and his wife. The incident occurred yesterday, October 8, in front of a convenience store in Ban Khilek Yai, Chaiyaphum Province.

Police were alerted to the altercation by a 191 call, and Deputy Inspector Thanat Wannaniwat from Chaiyaphum City Police Station responded to the scene with rescue workers from Sawang Khunatham Chaiyaphum. Two injured individuals were found at the location: 38 year old Ekalak, who sustained a cut on his palm, and 34 year old Sarawut, who had a head injury and was lying by the roadside. Both were given first aid before being transported to Chaiyaphum Hospital.

Nearby, a fake gun and a long sword were discovered next to a gold Yamaha Fino motorcycle, which had toppled over. Ekalak, the meatball vendor who had been cut, recounted the events along with his wife, 36 year old Ployman. They explained that while they were selling meatballs, Sarawut approached their stall, causing a commotion. He brandished a gun, threatening both of them.

Ekalak questioned Sarawut’s motives for threatening them and their friend, who was also at the stall. In response, Sarawut drew a long sword and attempted to attack Ekalak.

“He came up to us, yelling and waving a gun. When I asked why he was doing this, he pulled out a sword and tried to slash me,” Ekalak said. “I grabbed the sword with my hand, and my wife and our friend helped to catch him.”

Deputy Inspector Thanat Wannaniwat confirmed upon investigation that the gun was fake and collected it as evidence, along with the sword. Sarawut was taken to Chaiyaphum Hospital for a medical check-up before being brought to the Chaiyaphum City Police Station, reported KhaoSod.
