Loutish foreigner arrested for running amok in Pattaya restaurant

Another loutish foreigner did himself proud by running amok in a Pattaya restaurant in the early hours of this morning. One Thai eyewitness alleges that the half-naked man from the waist up was either under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police were called and arrested the unruly man after he refused to calm down at an unnamed Isaan restaurant on Third Road.

The man, aged between 35 and 40, appeared confused and intoxicated, and despite repeated requests to leave, he continued to run around the restaurant, shouting abuse and scaring customers.

When the police arrived, the man attempted to hide on the restaurant’s second floor, but he was eventually subdued and handcuffed with the help of locals.

A 42 year old Thai eyewitness called Mix told The Pattaya News that the man suddenly came running out of nowhere from the street and tried to enter the restaurant’s kitchen.

Mix said the customers were scared as the man damaged the restaurant’s property.

A member of staff told police that the foreigner was not a customer and had not bought anything and nobody at the restaurant recognized him.

The presence of police drove the man to scurry to the restaurant’s second floor to hide. However, the authorities were eventually able to subdue and handcuff him, with the help of many locals due to his strength.

The man had no identification or wallet, and his nationality is unknown. He continued to cause a scene at the police station. Officers reported that they plan to hold him until he sobers up and they can find out his identity before pressing legal charges.

No one was injured in the incident, and it is unclear if alcohol or drug tests were conducted.

Pattaya has become a notorious hotspot for foreign troublemakers over the past year but it has to be said that the vast majority of visitors to the popular seaside resort are law-abiding and respectful of local laws and customs. There’s always one that has to spoil it for others.
