Tokyo governor visits NIST International School during Thailand trip

NIST International School was honoured to host Her Excellency Koike Yuriko, Governor of Tokyo, along with delegates from the Board of Education. The visit underscored NIST’s reputation as the leading international school in Thailand, widely recognised for its innovative and comprehensive approach to education.

The visit kicked off with a presentation by NIST’s Head of Secondary, Angelo Coskinas, who outlined the school’s unique learning programme, featuring the core elements of the NIST experience: Academics, Expeditions, Activities, Service, and Wellbeing.

Following the welcome, four NIST student representatives from years 12 and 13 led Governor Koike and the Board of Education delegates on a guided tour of the campus in both English and Japanese.

The tour offered an in-depth look into NIST’s inquiry-based learning environment education model. Key highlights included the Black Box Theatre, Design Technology studio, Film Class, Theatre, Elementary Building, and World Language classrooms.

These spaces exemplify NIST’s dedication to igniting creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. The visit concluded with a heartfelt gesture as NIST presented Governor Koike and the delegates with a gift handmade by students from various community service groups.
