Trump rally attendees suffer severe eye pain after Tucson event
Trump rallygoers experience unexplained severe eye pain after Arizona event
Several Trump supporters reported experiencing severe eye pain and sought medical attention after attending a rally in Arizona. Mayra Rodriguez, seated on the right side of the stage behind the former president at Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson on 12 September, described intense eye irritation upon leaving the venue after the nearly 80-minute speech.
Rodriguez, a former Planned Parenthood Director and vocal Republican, initially thought her symptoms were due to allergies. However, during her 90-minute drive back to Phoenix, the irritation worsened, prompting her to rush to the emergency room. Medical staff repeatedly asked if she had been sprayed with a substance, given her symptoms.
Rodriguez reported severe pain and light sensitivity, requiring a cold cloth to alleviate the discomfort. Medical professionals could not diagnose the cause, but a doctor confirmed the injuries were not due to the venue’s lights. By Friday, Rodriguez was nearly blind, but her vision improved by the following Tuesday.

Two other attendees, a brother and sister who sat next to Rodriguez, experienced similar symptoms. The sister reported worsening symptoms, including eye watering, nasal congestion, facial flushing, and neck burning. Her brother described unbearable pain and severe eye redness.
The Secret Service stated they were unaware of any incident affecting rallygoers and confirmed there was no threat to Trump at the event, which attracted over 2,000 supporters. Rodriguez questioned why only the group on the right side of the stage was affected.
