Shop, chill and eat at Phuket’s liveliest marina
PHUKET: The Lighthouse Weekend Market returns to Boat Lagoon this Friday for a three-day weekend extravaganza, the last of the year as the southwest monsoon season officially rolls in.
The events kick off with a nightly Happy Hour from 5pm to 7pm, during which half-priced drinks and two-for-one specials will be offered at all the dockside bars and selected eateries.
Open from 5pm to 10pm, this week’s Summer’s End Lighthouse Market brings a whole new lineup of free entertainment to Phuket’s liveliest marina, with fresh acts every night.
Stop in after work on Friday and start the weekend off right with a live saxophone performance and DJ vibes from the Phuket House Mafia. On Saturday night, happy hour will be accompanied by live pop, and Sunday night will be alive with Latin jazz on the dockside.
Another new edition to the market this weekend will be a Yamaha Stage Show from 6:30 to 7:30pm.
If it starts to rain, do not fret. The bars and eateries will be well covered and visitors can pick up free raincoats at the entrance to the market.
Be sure to get there early so that you can snag the best dockside seats to enjoy the nightly Happy Hour and entertainment.
Since it all began in January, the Lighthouse Markets have brought a brand new shopping, chilling and eating experience to the island’s international community.
The concept of a local market with a cosmopolitan ambiance was an instant hit and something, it seems, that locals were more than ready for; a venue to relax with friends over not-too-pricey fine food and imported nectar.
For families, the Lighthouse Market has been a sensation. Located near the bypass road, the Boat Lagoon is easy to get to and somewhere to let the kids run about and let off steam with fairground style games and activities. Plus a challenging walk up the spiral staircase of the Boat Lagoon’s lighthouse, which reveals a spectacular view across the marina and the hills beyond, where the setting sun makes for an excellent photo or two.
The Boat Lagoon Lighthouse Markets are proudly sponsored by the Phuket Gazette and the ‘Phuket Today’ show, the island’s only nationally broadcast TV program, aired daily on True Visions and all local provincial cable networks.
