Phuket’s Patong Bay Hill, in the heart of the valley
PHUKET: Mark June of 2015 in your calendars. It might be the very month when Patong begins changing for the better, all due to the launch of the beach town’s much anticipated Patong Bay Hill development.
“We are very happy, as everything is going according to schedule. Patong Bay Hill is expected to be completed in May 2015, and after a month of preparation and tests, it will officially open its doors in June,” says Anupong Muttaraid, the chief operations manager of Harwell Properties Limited – the company that will be in charge of the new hotel’s management.
Located on a beautiful 60-rai plot of land, Patong Bay Hill will have almost 400 turnkey rooms, as well as all the amenities expected from a five-star establishment, including a swimming pool, a gourmet restaurant and maid services. But there is more – the developer aims to create a small community on site, which will turn Patong Bay Hill into a self-sustainable family holiday destination.
“We want to create a family-oriented space. In the center of the project, surrounding the pool area,
there will be a shopping strip with a number of retailers, a cafe, restaurants and more. An on-site wellness center, kid’s club and clubhouse will further add to guest convenience. We will also offer child-care services in our kid’s club so parents can enjoy some quality time on the beach or at our wellness center,” explains Mr Anupong.
“We want to create a ‘holiday community’, comprising not just accommodation, but everything that our guests might need.”
The vision behind the project is to expand Patong’s image. The town can be more than just a party destination and can welcome families and tourists in search of quality wellness. To achieve this goal, Patong Bay Hill will grant its guests direct access to a major wellness center with spa, detox and fitness facilities, a sauna as well as health and beauty services.
“The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name ‘Patong’ is the nightlife, the
noise and the pollution,” says Mr Anupong. “Even though we have one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, people looking to spend quality time on the beach usually go all the way to Kata and Karon.
“We want to prove that you can have quality time without having to leave Patong. We want to create a new future for Patong, one that will turn it into a family-oriented wellness center.”
This goal is also reflected in the rooms’ layouts, consisting of separate bedrooms, and sofa beds for the kids. Half of the apartments will have direct access to the swimming pool, and guests in about 150 of the apartments will be able to enjoy unadulterated sea views. Ranging in size from 65-75 square meters, the rooms will be furnished and ready to move into.
All this just a few hundred meters away from Patong’s chaotic center, in a luscious green valley. This is what Patong’s future looks like to some developers, and Patong Bay Hill is one of them.
