Malaysia’s King appoints 16 judges in ceremony at Istana Negara

In a recent ceremony at Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s King, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, granted an audience and presented the instruments of appointment to 16 judges. Queen Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah was also in attendance.

The ceremony commenced with the presentation of the instruments of appointment to Federal Court judges Abu Bakar Jais and Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil. Next, Court of Appeal judges Azmi Ariffin, Azhahari Kamal Ramli, S.M Komathy, and Choo Kah Sing received their instruments of appointment.

Ten High Court judges were also presented with their instruments of appointment, including Nurulhuda Nur’aini Mohamad Nor, Norliza Othman, Hasbullah Adam, Shamsulbahri Ibrahim, Roslan Mat Nor, Julia Ibrahim, Mohd Arief Emran Arifin, John Lee Ken Tiong, Adlin Abdul Majid, and Mohamad Abazafree Mohd Abbas.

The ceremony was witnessed by Chief Judge of Malaya Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah and Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Abdul Rahman Sebli. Other attendees included Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Rampkarpal Singh, Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, and Court of Appeal President Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim.
