Malaysia identifies 190 election hotspots, launches Op PRN 6N for security

Authorities in Malaysia have identified 190 hotspots in six states ahead of the upcoming state elections, with the highest number found in Selangor, according to Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani. Terengganu follows with 66 hotspots, while Kedah has 20, Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan each have 16, and Penang has two. These areas are considered hotspots due to their potential to provoke disturbances that could disrupt public order.

Acryl Sani spoke to the press after visiting the Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Hospital in Cheras during the 216th Police Day celebration. He explained that to ensure the state elections run smoothly, a special operation called Op PRN 6N has been launched. This operation will focus on voter security, polling stations, and vote counting locations.

The Inspector-General also mentioned that 93,833 personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Malaysian Armed Forces will be involved in early voting across the six states.
