Magnitude 7+ earthquakes hit northern Philippine islands – VIDEO
The island of Luzon in the Philippines has been hit by a powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake sending strong tremors felt in many areas nearby, including the capital Manila. The earthquake was measured at around 10 – 40 kilometres deep. There have been other similar magnitude earthquakes being reported this morning (below).
At this stage there are no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake although some recently uploaded YouTube videos indicate minor dame to roads and buildings from the tremors.

The earthquake follows a few days of high activity around the Pacific Ocean’s ‘Ring of Fire’.
The earthquake’s epicentre was about 11 kilometres east-southeast of Dolores in the Abra province.
Philippines Congressman Eric SingsonToday told DZMM radio station the quake was quite strong
“The earthquake lasted 30 seconds or more. I thought my house would fall.”
“Right now there are aftershocks so we are outside our home.”
