Man drowns after being washed off rocks in Rawai
A man’s body has been washed up on Nai Harn Beach today after going fishing near the windmill in Rawai.
Chalong Police were notified at 10am this morning that the body of the man was found floating near Nai Harn Beach.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body on the beach where lifeguards had already pulled him out of the water. The man was identified as 27 year old Anuchit Palumpon. Police believed that he died at least six hours before his body was found. His body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
A friend of Mr Anuchit told police that at 1am this morning they went out fishing near the windmill in Rawai. Mr Anuchu went fishing near a big rock. His friend told him that it was too dangerous because of strong waves but he insisted to go down to the rock. He was hit by a big wave and washed away. They tried to find him but couldn’t locate him until his body appeared later washed up on the beach.
