Today is the last day of the annual Phuket Heroines Festival at Thalang Historical Park.
The Phuket Governor Phakkapong Tavipatana presided over the opening night on Wednesday where the historical show of light and sound was held.
There are many activities showing the Thalang way of life, local markets, demonstrations of ancient desserts, traditional plays, cultural performances and local food stalls. Vendors wear Thai and local clothing.
Governor Phakkapong says,” This event promotes tourism and preserve the traditions of Phuket. The aim of the festival is to honour Thao Thepkrasattri and Thao Srisoonthorn (the ‘heroines’). The younger generations can pay respect to them and others who sacrificed their lives for the land that we live in today.”
