Worker shot dead in “revenge killing’
PHUKET TOWN: A furious argument yesterday apparently boiled over into violence early this morning, resulting in the death of a construction worker and a police manhunt being launched for a fellow-worker. The victim, Theerapong Kwantongyen, died on the way to Wachira Phuket Hospital after being shot at his home in Rassada Nakorn Village on Thepanusorn Rd about 1 am today. Pol Capt Yongyuth Krongmalai, duty officer of Phuket Town Police Station, said he understood that the two men had previously argued and revenge seemed to be the motive. He said that last night, after drinking since noon, Wiroj Daengsee, accompanied by friends, went to K. Theerapong’s home armed with a .38 pistol and a long home-made knife. One witness heard shooting and went outside to find K. Theerapong shouting to his mother for help, his neck and shirt covered in blood. Quoting witnesses, Capt Yongyuth said, “Wiroj fired four times. He also threw his knife but it missed Theerapong and cut the arm of a woman who had come out to see what was happening. Fortunately, it wasn’t a deep cut.” Police are now searching for Wiroj.
