What’s gone wrong at the Gazette Online?
PHUKET: Our most profound apologies to our more than 7,000 Gazetteers, as well as all others who have attempted to use the Gazette website over the past eight days. The problems are not in any way related to the re-engineering of our site, or the launch of the makeover which, unfortunately, occurred just a few days before the site entered its current cycle of collapse at about 4 pm Phuket time (GMT +7) everyday and reappearance 7-8 hours later. The Phuket Gazette Online is domiciled on servers at Innerhost, Inc, Miami, Florida. Innerhost has advised that they are having ongoing problems with the server on which the Gazette’s databases reside. To date, they have been unable to resolve these problems. In our most recent discussions with the company, at about midnight (Phuket time) on Friday, 31 August, we were told that our site is therefore being moved to another (Innerhost) server, and that the migration will take about 72 hours. Given the absence of any apparent progress in rectifying the problem(s) at Innerhost over the past eight days, we are unable to offer assurances to our readers that our site will, in fact, be functioning correctly post-migration. However, we certainly share your interest in seeing the site back on line during the hours that we know you are accustomed to visiting it, and we are working in earnest to achieve normal operations at the earliest possible date.
