Two million baht robbery reported
PHUKET TOWN: At 10 am on Monday, May 14, Sophana Tawahudee reported to Phuket Town police station that her house on Mae Luan Rd had been robbed, and that cash and valuables worth over two million baht had been stolen. K. Sophana, the manager at the Andaman Sea View Hotel in Karon, said that the bandit had made off with a gold Rolex watch, a four-baht-weight (60-gram) gold necklace, four gold-edged Buddha images, two diamond rings, two diamond bracelets, a gold Sukhothai necklace, a gold Sukhothai bracelet, a pearl ring, a necklace with a jeweled pendant, a desktop computer, a video recorder, a wallet and 6,500 baht in cash. Three handguns – two .357s and a .45 – were also stolen in the robbery. They belonged to K. Sophana’s husband. Investigating officer Pol Capt Pin In-Mahk, of Phuket Town Police Station, said that the thief had forced open the front door and ransacked the house. In her statement to police, K. Sophana said that she had left the house to visit a friend. She also said that she had checked that all the windows and doors were locked before she left. But when she returned, she found that her belongings had been scattered everywhere. Police say they still have no leads or suspects in the case.
