PHUKET TOWN: Police raided two houses on Friday and Saturday and arrested three Thais for trafficking in amphetamines (ya bah). They also seized 278 tablets of the drug. On Friday evening, after undercover officers had bought 10 tablets from a house on Soi 4, Surin Rd, police returned with a search warrant. They found 98 ya bah tablets and arrested two men who were subsequently charged with possession with intent to sell the drug. The following morning, Muang District Police were alerted that a house in Mooban Irawadee, Surin Rd, was also being used for the distribution of ya bah. Undercover police were again sent to the premises where they bought some of the drug. The subsequent raid uncovered 180 amphetamine tablets, a bank book showing a balance of 100,000 baht, and a notebook with records of drug sales. The owner of the house was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell.
