Thalang man survives gang attack

THALANG: A Thalang man barely survived a vicious beating following an attack by a local youth gang, after local residents found him lying unconscious and covered in blood on the roadside near the entrance to Layan Beach at about 2 am yesterday. The victim, 27-year-old Saroj Sae-khor, managed to flee the gang by motorcycle, but later crashed when he lost consciousness after suffering loss of blood from a three-inch long wound to the jugular vein. Pol Maj Anan Jingjit, from Thalang Police Station, said that the victim also had injuries to his head, face, back and legs from being hit repeatedly with a blunt object. According to eyewitnesses, K. Soroj and three friends went to the nearby Bai Mai Karaoke Bar, where they almost immediately got into an argument with a local gang led by a man known to police as “Kla Baan Don”. K. Saroj and his friends were no match for the well-armed thugs, so they fled on their motorcycles in different directions. K. Saroj was taken to Wachira Phuket Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police are now searching for Kla Baan Don, described as being 25 to 27 years of age, and his fellow gang members.
