TAT pushes Phuket greens for “green season’

PHUKET: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is doing its best to get domestic tourists and expats living in Thailand onto Phuket’s greens during the region’s ‘green season’ with the Phuket Golf Festival.
From now until the end of September, the TAT is backing a special promotional price for six golf courses in Phuket, as well as special flight rates on Bangkok Airways, confirmed TAT Phuket Director Anoma Wongyai.
“The main purpose of the event is to boost the number of Thais and expats playing golf in Phuket, which is just one of the campaigns we have to help increase the number of visitors to the island,” Ms Anoma said.
“Normally, it is expensive to play golf in Phuket. However, the special prices during green season will allow people to see how excellent the courses are on the island.”
Special discounts will be available at Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa; Laguna Phuket Golf Club; Blue Canyon Country Club; Phuket Country Club; Loch Palm Golf Club; and Red Mountain Golf Club.
Those who are not already in Phuket, but want to take advantage of the especially green greens can book discounted flights from Bangkok, U-Tapao and Chiang Mai. However, passengers will have to present their golf course bookings when purchasing their air tickets, confirmed Ms Anoma.
