Rawai mayor bullish on property picture

RAWAI: Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos estimates that investment in property projects in Rawai could reach as much as 2 billion baht this year.

Mayor Aroon recently met with four prospective investors at Rawai Municipality Office to “clarify construction laws with regards to building new properties in Rawai”.

The meeting is part of an initiative to boost tourism in places like Laem Phromthep, Rawai Beach, Nai Harn Beach and Koh Lone.

“The investors would like to know about construction laws because they have to understand these laws before they can request building permission from us,” he said.

“There are two resorts going up near Nong Harn Lake. There are also a couple of condominium, hotel and resort projects, while a number of investors from Bangkok have shown an interest in Koh Lone,” he said.

Investors are increasingly interested in building hotels and resorts around Rawai and Nai Harn beaches. “There are a number of investors and their business partners looking to build properties in those areas,” he added.

Mayor Aroon is also pushing to build a ‘Sea Natural History Museum’ on 271 rai of seaside government land north of the viewpoint at Laem Phromthep.
