Phuket yacht racers fired up for Victron final

PHUKET: The Victron Energy Series comes to a climactic conclusion this weekend with regular crews and a few extra hulls expected on the water for race eight off Ao Chalong Yacht Club (ACYC).

This final race of ACYC’s Keel Boat and Multihull club championship gives local racers a chance to warm up for the SEA Property Multihull Championship to be held from July 15 to 17 and the Six Senses Raceweek from July 20 to 24.

Racing Class will be hotly contested by Minx, crewed by Kevin Gillow and Mick Kealy, Linda skippered by Jack Christensen and Babe skippered by Mark Mizner.

Multihull Class will see Niña with Bob Mott and Grenville Fordham on board and Sidewinder skippered by Alan Carwardine challenging to keep Roger Kingdons’ Moto Inzi at bay.

Chetak skippered by Jim Kane will hope to have a little more competition than usual for his last outing in Cruising Class.
