Phuket ready to rendezvous
PHUKET: Organizers are making final preparations for the 12th annual Asia Superyacht Rendezvous and the anticipation is palpable.
Most yachts have arrived, bringing with them captains, crew and VIP guests who are getting revved up for sun, sailing and socializing. The buzz is growing with Christmas around the corner and Phuket’s beaches bustling with families, honeymooners, holiday makers and friendly locals.
Next week the Asia SuperyachtRendezvous will be welcoming sponsors Feadship; Boat International Media and Royal Huisman to our shores, as commissioned photographers get their cameras ready to capture unforgettable moments of the competition and natural images of Phuket’s spectacular Bang TaoBay.
This year’s Rendezvous will have jaw-dropping Superyachts anchored in Bang Tao Bay. The Rendezvous will have three Feadships: M/Y Callisto, M/Y Samax and M/Y Helix.
The 44-meter Helix, currently on a tour of Asia, is the 5th F45Vantage series Feadship, and was launched in 2011.
Royal Huisman’s elegant 57-meter S/YTwizzle is the first vessel completely styled by the shipyard themselves with their talented team of Redman: Whiteley Dixon (interior design), from Todhunter Earle Associates, and boat designby Dubois Naval Architects.
Also joining the event will be the exotic Phinisi, S/Y Silolona, the luxurious S/Y Yanneke Too and M/Y Maverick, as well as the very powerful S/Y Shamoun.
Phuket constantly plays host to more and more yachts each year, and this season it is proving to be an extremely popular destination for the holidays. The region as a whole is seeing massive growth in the number of superyachts for short visits, and some are now even calling Asia ‘home’.
The Rendezvous will kick off in the early evening on December 16. S/Y Silolona will welcome many new faces aboard and will, without a doubt, impress all eyes that look upon her. Two exciting days of sailing have been arranged and the sailing yachts are set to eagerly race one another whilst motor yachts follow the action.
Every year The Rendezvous gets bigger and better, and this year looks to be no exception.
The 12th annual Asia Superyacht Rendezvous is proudly sponsored by the Phuket Gazette, PGTV and the nationally televised Phuket Today show on UBC/True Visions. Phuket Today, co-produced by PGTV and MCOT World, will be providing coverage of this event. The half-hour show runs six times a day, seven days a week, on channels 58 and 99.
