Phuket “still life’ wins Wichit photo contest
WICHIT: Chusak Uthaipanumas has won the Wichit Municipality’s “Travel Thai Way in Wichit” photo contest for his outstanding photo Cheewit Haeng Sai Nam Mudong (Life of Mudong Canal).
For first prize, Mr Chusak will receive 10,000 baht cash and a certificate of achievement.
“I feel delighted. I often go to that area to shoot photos. This photo was taken around 6am to get the morning light.
“Also, I have lived in Phuket for more than 20 years, so I know when is the right time to see the local people’s way of life,” he said.
“My concept was to capture a single moment. I was lucky, too, that when I shot that photo the bird was flying by and the fisherman was casting his net. It was perfect timing,” he added.
Sakorn Saengtongsamarnsin won second prize for Rew Cluen Si Thong (Golden Waves) and Teerapat Patsopanapon placed third with Yuen Yad (Standing Still).
Sakorn and Teerapat will each receive a certificate of achievement as well as 6,000 and 4,000 baht cash, respectively.
Piyawan Utharapong, Narawut Swatdivej, Yongyut Chankul, Withawat Weerasing and Siri Jinda will each receive 1,000 baht cash for their efforts.
Wichit Municipality Clerk Viset Sabaijit confirmed that all photos that receive prizes will be used by the municipality to promote tourism in the Wichit area.
The award ceremony and an exhibition of the photos will be at Big C superstore tonight, starting at 6:30pm.
