Phuket earns 21 medals at 42nd Thailand National Games
PHUKET: Athletes representing Phuket at the 42nd National Games, contested in Suphanburi from January 5-15, brought home 21 medals – five golds, five silvers and 11 bronzes.
Based on medal tally, Phuket placed 25th out of 77 provinces and Bangkok.
The National Games’ hosts Suphanburi cleaned up the event with 358 medals including 198 gold, 80 silver and 80 bronze.
Bangkok came in second (275 medals) followed by Chonburi (138) and Nakhon Ratchasima (80).
Nine provinces – Sa Kaeo, Phetchaburi, Uthaithani, Kamphaeng Phet, Utturadit, Narathiwat, Mukdahan, Nong Bua Lamphu and Nong Kai – were unable to get a single gold medal.
Phuket particularly did well in the Hammer Throw, Petanque, Soft Tennis and the Chinese strategy board game, Go.
