Phuket TV star in ICU following smash
PHUKET: A Thai soap star and former Miss Teen Thailand from Phuket is in serious condition following a car accident in Pathum Thani.
Ameria ‘Amy’ Jacobs, 21, and 25-year-old Buphakorn Nilat are being treated in Krung Siam St Carlos Hospital in the central Thai province.
Mr Buphakorn was driving Miss Jacobs home to Nonthaburi province when he lost control of his car in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The car crashed into an electricity poll at high speed.
When rescuers reached the scene they found Mr Buphakorn trapped in the driver’s seat.
Thrown from the vehicle, Miss Jacobs was lying on the ground unconscious.
The Thai Rath newspaper reported that Miss Jacobs is being kept in intensive care and has suffered cerebral bleeding.
Mr Buphakorn told reporters that before the accident Miss Jacobs had been filming at Dara Video’s soap opera studio in Pathum Thani.
The crash happened on the Pathum Thani – Tiwanon Road in Village 5, Pathum Thani province, as they were driving home.
Still in a confused state after the accident, Mr Buphakorn said he “didn’t know” why the vehicle lost its grip on the road.
Miss Jacobs won Miss Teen Thailand in 2006 and is the star of Thidawanorn 2 (‘Monkey’s Daughter’), a popular comedy-drama on Channel 7.
