‘Phuket People Network’ shows support for PM Abhisit
PHUKET TOWN: Around 500 Phuket residents assembled at Provincial Hall yesterday afternoon to deliver a show of support for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
Manoon Kiowkram, leader of the newly-formed ‘Phuket People Network’, handed a formal letter to Phuket Governor Wichai Phraisa-ngop around 4:15pm.
The letter urged the embattled prime minister to resist red shirt demands to dissolve parliament.
The group members held pictures of HM The King and HM Queen Sirikit, with banners exhorting Phuket people to “Believe in Thailand, believe in Abhisit”. Other banners read, “Phuket people help protect the nation, we are the same color” and “We support PM Abhisit; don’t dissolve the legislature, don’t quit the position.”
Senior Phuket People Network member Mongkol Rattana said the group started small, but was now nearly one thousand strong.
“We are neither yellow nor red shirt. We are not for hire. Everything we do, we do from the heart. We need the PM to continue with his duty. Don’t quit, don’t dissolve parliament. We will be by his side,” he said.
