Phuket PSU chosen for Thai Cabinet meeting
PHUKET: The Phuket campus of the Prince of Songkla University (PSU) yesterday was selected as the venue for the upcoming Thai Cabinet meeting on March 19-20.
Sombat Wattanapanich, Cabinet Secretary and Adviser to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, was accompanied on a tour of the potential venues on the island.
Leading the entourage was Phuket Governor Tri Augkaradacha, Phuket Vice Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada and Director of the Phuket Provincial Operations Center, Prajeat Aksornthammakul,
Locations visited included the conference rooms of Phuket Rajabhat University and Phuket Wittayalai School.
Mr Sombat also inspected the accommodation of the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa, Laguna Phuket Resorts and Hotels and the Sea Pearl Villas Phuket, all of which will be used by the Cabinet delegation during their stay on the island.
Security and transport arrangements were his top concerns, said Mr Sombat.
Suchart Wittawatpakcharoen, Director of the Committee of Cabinet Meetings, said that he found that the conference hall at the PSU Phuket Campus better suited than the other locations inspected because of the venue’s design, readiness, facilities and the security options available.
Governor Tri explained to the delegation that he had set up four working groups to take care of the various aspects of the visit. These included the administration, venue preparation, road movement and security.
