Phuket Cycling Fest 2014 ready to roll
PHUKET: If you have some untouched reserves of stamina and feel like exploring the beauty of Phuket in a more natural, personal manner, head for the Phuket Cycling Fest 2014, which kicks off tomorrow, September 6, at Queen Sirikit Park in Phuket Town.
A bustling bicycle fair boasting booths and stalls from bicycle specialists will be held at the park, renowned for its bronzed dragon statue, from 4pm, followed by the official opening ceremony at 6:30pm.
Supporting activities will include demonstrations of bike fitting and displays of the more antique velocipedes of yesteryear.
Sunday is race day, with the advanced 70km tour beginning at 5:30am, the intermediate 26km race at 6am and beginners 10km race at 7am. The cyclists will go as far as Cherng Talay, Pa Khlok and Wat Chalong and are expected to cross the finish line at around 11am.
A Sunday bicycle fair will start at 1pm, there will also be a “Night Ride” starting at 6pm, which is expected to be attended by a number of local celebrities.
