PHUKET: Police are hunting the gunman in a Phuket drive-by shooting early this morning.
Visan Khunmanit, 23, was shot in the chest at about 3:20am. He was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital, and pronounced dead at about 4am.
“Witnesses told us that Mr Visan was visiting friends in Wichit. They were talking outside of his friend’s house when the shooting occurred,” explained Maj Narong Muangduang of the Wichit Police. “The gunman drove by on a Fino motorbike, fired one shot and then sped off.”
The suspect was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans, with a helmet fully concealing his face. The licence plate had been removed from the vehicle, confirmed Maj Narong.
“We are are checking CCTV in the area to see if we can track down the killer,” he said. “At this point, we have no solid clues as to what the motive was.”
