One dead, one critical after karaoke fight
THALANG: One man was stabbed to death and another remains in critical condition following an argument over whose turn it was to use the microphone at the Kon Suay (Beautiful People) karaoke bar and restaurant in Cherng Talay around 1 am yesterday. Police arrested the alleged killer, 24-year-old Veerasak Nantasin, from Surat Thani, some three hours later at his home at 24/8 Moo 6 in Cherng Talay. A knife was recovered during the arrest. The dead man was named as 18-year-old Bundit “Koh” Kulabuth. He died en route to Thalang Hospital from five stab wounds to his back. The other victim, Sanchai “Jek” Benjakarn, 19, remains in the intensive care unit at the hospital. Pol Lt Col Suwat Kaewprom, Deputy Superintendent of Cherng Talay Police Station, told the Gazette that witnesses in the karaoke reported that an argument broke out between the victims and their alleged attacker over use of the microphone. “Veerasak confessed that he did it because he was drunk,” Col Suwat told the Gazette. “He has been charged with one count of murder and one of attempted murder.” He remains in police custody.
