No shortage of water in Phuket this dry season, officials say

PHUKET: Phuket has enough water on hand to supply the whole province this dry season, said Pisak Chonlayut, Manager of the Phuket Provincial Waterworks Authority on February 13.

At a meeting to discuss Phuket water supplies chaired by Phuket Governor Maitri Inthusut, Mr Pisak said that 48.5 millions cubic meters of water are currently in reservoirs in Phuket province, with 7.2 at Bang Niew Dum reservoir, 7.3 million at Bang Wad reservoir and 34 million in other reservoirs around the island.

He told the gathering that the Waterworks Authority will address the problem of water being wasted by overflowing the Kog Tanod Reservoir in Cherng Talay by running a waterline from the reservoir to the water filtration plant in Bang Jo in Thalang next year at a cost of 99 million baht.
