Mission Hills to host PM’s golf meet
PHUKET: Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi will meet Thai Prime Minister Gen Surayud Chulanont for a round of golf at Mission Hills Golf course Sunday afternoon. The PMs will fly in separately Sunday morning and fly out the following day.
Phuket Vice-Governor Tri Augkaradacha confirmed both PM’s itineraries, saying that PM Badawi will stay at JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa in Mai Khao, while PM Surayud will stay at the Mission Hills resort in Pa Khlok.
After arriving on separate planes, the PMs will meet for golf at 1:30 pm. PM Surayud will host a dinner for PM Badawi later that evening.
On Monday morning, both will leave for Bangkok for an audience with HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej that afternoon, followed by a series of meetings at Government House.
The PMs are expected to make a joint statement at Government House, to be aired live on Thai TV Channel 11.
All measures are in place to ensure security for the two premiers during their stay on the island, V/Gov Tri said.
PM Badawi was last in Phuket October 2004, when he played golf with former PM Thaksin Shinawatra at Blue Canyon Country Club.
