Methee, 7, passes away at Vachira Phuket

PHUKET: The Phuket Gazette is sad to report that Methee Khunsuinhu, the seven-year-old boy pulled unconscious from a lagoon near Nai Harn Beach on New Year’s Day, has died.

Inquiries have revealed that Methee died in the intensive care unit at Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town at 7:15am yesterday.

He was put on life support after his rescue on Sunday.

Staff at the hospital declined to give any further information, including whether or not Methee’s life-support system was intentionally switched off.

One day before Methee’s death, Methee’s stepmother told the Gazette the couple would hold on to whatever time they had left with their boy.

Nicknamed “Shogun”, Methee was pulled from the lagoon by a foreign man at about 4:30pm.

Lifeguards at the scene reported that Methee was already blue in the face and that his pulse was low when they arrived. They performed CPR until an ambulance arrived and rushed him to hospital.

A source at the hospital told the Gazette that Mr Pakit, Methee’s father, has already claimed Methee’s body, which will be returned to his home in Songkhla for a funeral ceremony.
