Homeowners urged to join anti-crime scheme

KATHU: Police are urging anyone going away during the Songkhran period to notify them so that they can keep an eye on their homes until they get back. Joining the “Let The Police Watch Your Home” scheme is free, and is very simple, said Pol Lt Col Witoon Kongsudjai, inspector of Tung Tong Police Station. All householders need do is phone their local police station and give their name, their address and the dates on which they will leave and return. Police will then install a red box in front of the home, containing a logbook for police patrolmen to sign when they check the house, which will be roughly every two hours. The program, which began on Tuesday this week, will last until next Tuesday. Similar schemes are in force during all major festival periods.
