Greater Phuket healthcare advances with Krabi’s first international hospital

PHUKET: Phuket’s Andaman neighbors in Krabi province will soon be able to take advantage of superior healthcare facilities when the long-awaited Krabi Nakharin International Hospital finally opens its doors later this year.

The private hospital, located on Pisalpop Road in Tambon Pak Nam, is nearing completion and due to welcome its first patients in the second quarter of 2012.

The facility will feature 100 in-patient beds in a modern, six-story building with on-site parking for up to 100 cars.

Although subject to some initial delays, the construction of the building under project management by Thai developers Krabinakharin Ltd is now in the final stages.

“Krabi is currently undergoing rapid economic growth and marked expansion, which in turn is being supported by a number of high profile development projects.

“These include the prestigious Port Takola Marina, the impressive Royal Krabi Marina, a number of select Krabi villas, hotels and resorts and now the imposing Krabi Nakharin International Hospital’, said Ton Loriers, managing director of Krabi architecture and construction company Ton Company Ltd.

The new hospital is expected to be well received by holiday makers and Krabi’s burgeoning expat and retirement community as the nearest “international hospitals” are located in Phuket.

Many foreigners requiring specialist care, extensive surgery or major operations currently make the two-hour journey by road to Phuket or fly to Bangkok.

In addition to the new hospital, Krabi is looking forward to a supplementary medical clinic at the Port Takola Marina, just 10 kilometers from the busy holiday resort town of Ao Nang.

The clinic will be managed by the Bangkok Hospital Group, who enjoy a strong reputation for an extremely high standard of healthcare.

“Krabi’s continually improving infrastructure, unrivaled accommodation and world-class facilities are attracting an increasing number of foreigners who are keen to put down roots in this beautiful part of Thailand,” said Mr Ton.

“The new international hospital and clinic are bound to make Krabi an even more attractive proposition,” he added.
