Facebook post helps identify drowned woman

PHUKET: Facebook users were able to identify the woman who plunged to her death off Rawai Pier yesterday, after pictures of her body were posted on the social media platform.
Witnesses saw Sriwann Sarapoo, 49, walk down the pier in the heavy rain at about 8:30am.
“We were told that she walked to the end of the pier, where the waves were reaching about two meters, and then jumped in shortly after arriving,” Lt Wuthiwat Leangboonjinda of the Chalong Police said.
“Locals tried to help, but couldn’t due to the large waves.”
Ms Sriwann’s body was discovered a couple hours later at Laem Ka Yai. On her person was 180 baht in cash and a motorbike key.
“There were no signs of a struggle or foul play. However, we are continuing our investigation,” Lt Wuthiwat said.
