Danish tourist dies in hotel reception

KARON: Danish tourist Finn Hansen, 54, was found dead on Thursday in the lobby of the “Welcome Inn” hotel, where he had been staying since March 18.

“He was sitting in a chair in the hotel lobby for three hours before anyone noticed he was dead,” Capt Theerawut Thep-Luen of Chalong Police told the Gazette.

As there was no evidence of foul play, police expect Mr Hansen died from natural causes, he said.

“It’s possible that he suffered a seizure before his death,” Capt Theerawut said.

Mr Hansen’s body was sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for autopsy and the Danish authorities have been notified of the death.

Danish Consul to Phuket Kennerth Carlson today collected Mr Hansen’s belongings at the hotel.

“He was staying here on his own,” a hotel staff member told the Gazette.
