Cocaine mules nabbed at airport
PHUKET: Two Peruvian men were arrested at Phuket International Airport on Wednesday with more than two kilograms of cocaine that they were carrying internally.
A press release from Somyot Santarvorn, Chief Customs Inspector at Phuket International Airport, reported that Godoy Paz Sadi Mercedes, 29, was found in possession of 91 packets of the cocaine, weighing a total of 882.7 grams.
His accomplice, named as Panaifo Walky Elcodoro, 27, had 124 packets weighing a total of 1.203kg.
Thai press reports said that the men were on an international flight direct to Phuket when one of the men was no longer able to contain the urge to keep his cargo in, and resorted to excreting some of the packages into the plane toilet.
The men were searched upon landing. Officers found eight feces-smeared packages of the drug hidden in a shoe.
The men were then taken to be x-rayed at Vachira Phuket Hospital, where the rest of the contraband was discovered, and recovered.
Both men have been charged with importing a Class 2 drug (cocaine) without permission and are being held in Bangkok by the Royal Thai Police Narcotics Bureau.
