SAPHAN HIN: The Phuket Barbarians made a clean sweep of their matches to win Group A of the Phuket Island Lager International Rugby Tens today. The Phuket Vagabonds, in Group D, won one game and lost two to come equal second. Favorites and last year’s winners of the tournament, British Club of Bangkok, crashed to the bottom of Group A, losing all three of their games. Results from Day One of the tournament were as follows: Group A Phuket Barbarians – won 3, lost 0 SRC Singapore – 2, 1 Taipei Baboons – 1, 2 Bangkok British Club – 0, 3 Group B Hong Kong FC Vandals – 3, 0 Nomads Manila – 2, 1 Osan RFC – 1, 2 Royal Australian Air Force Tigers – 0, 3 Group C Barrelhouse RFC Dubai – 3, 0 Pattaya Panthers – 2, 1 Seoul Survivors – 1, 2 Hong Kong FC Bulls – 0, 3 Group D Singapore Bucks – 3, 0 Phuket Vagabonds – 1, 2 Hong Kong Old Bill – 1, 2 Bangkok Japanese – 1, 2 Play resumes tomorrow at 10 am, with the semi-finals scheduled to begin at 12:40 pm. The finals get under way with the teams playing for the Bowl kicking off at 3 pm. The Plate final starts at 3:45 pm and the Cup final will start at 4:30 pm.

A seafood restaurant in Kamala, a west coast town in Phuket, has received strong criticism on social media after trying to charge a customer 6,750 baht for a takeaway meal. 3,000 baht of the bill was a “cooking fee”. Lalita Chaiyasit took to social media to vent her disbelief after receiving the bill. She says she was on holiday with her family in Phuket and wanted to order some food for delivery to their hotel. The Lard Yai Sunday night walking street along Thalang Road Old Phuket Town has reopened to the delight of vendors, locals and a few expats. It has been closed for 3 months after lockdowns were applied to community markets.
