PHUKET: The President of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zemin, will visit Phuket early next month. Mr Jiang will arrive on the evening of September 4 from Bangkok, where he will be a guest of HM the King. He will be accompanies by a party of 80 people, including security and medical staff. Planning for his visit has yet to be completed, but it is known that he will arrive on a private flight at around 6:30 pm, and that he will stay at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Resort. The following morning at 9:30 he will visit The Phuket Seashell Museum. In the evening he will meet representatives of the Chinese community in Phuket and will be the guest of honor at a dinner hosted by the Governor of Phuket, Chadej Insawang. President Jiang will leave Phuket the following day, September 6.
