Brit dies in car crash on way to airport

PHUKET TOWN: British national Allan Winston Allford, 50, died instantly from head injuries sustained in a car accident on Friday afternoon while on the way to the airport. Arriving at the scene on Chao Fa Nork Rd, opposite Soi Sa Nguan Sak, police found Mr Allford’s jeep upside-down in a drain. Mr Allford’s body was still trapped behind the wheel. Two passengers, Pimwadee Chaiwat, 34, and a fellow British national whose name has yet to be released, escaped serious injury. Police are still trying to determine the cause of the accident, though it is believed that another car was involved. The victim’s body has been moved to Wachira Phuket Hospital and will remain there while the police await further information from the British Embassy.
