Anchalee finally confirmed as OrBorJor President

PHUKET: Eight weeks after the elections for seats in the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor) took place, and 14 days after all the other members’ seats had been confirmed, the Phuket Election Committee (PEC) this morning finally confirmed that Anchalee Vanich-Thepabutr is the new OrBorJor President. PEC Director Kittipong Thiengkunagrit today told the Gazette, “We received the formal declaration this morning from the CEC [Central Election Committee] in Bangkok, confirming that K. Anchalee is the rightful President of Phuket OrBorJor.” K. Kittipong explained that CEC Chairman Wassana Permlab signed the declaration on May 2. However, he said, although the declaration was sent by Express Mail Service (EMS), the document took a week to arrive because of government holidays in the past week. K. Anchalee will still have to wait until tomorrow for the PEC to formally declare her as OrBorJor President. K. Kittipong explained, “Tomorrow, the PEC will issue the formal declaration confirming K. Anchalee as President, which must be approved by the PEC chairman, Dr Prapa Kayee. “Dr Prapa is not in the office today,” he added. The Democrat-dominated OrBorJor is scheduled to meet on Friday, with its new President in place. K. Anchalee told the Gazette, “Tomorrow, I’ll pick up [the declaration] from the PEC and I will assume the role of President on May 14. Then we will announce our major policies.”
