Ahoy Phuket! Ao Chalong Yacht Club calls for assistance to get ship shape

PHUKET: The Ao Chalong Yacht Club is calling for volunteers to lend a hand at a “working bee” on Saturday, March 3 – and is putting on free beer and a sausage sizzle for those who turn out to help.

“Some of the jetty floats need replacing urgently because they are sinking. Floats that are being used to jack up dinghies need to be retrieved and sorted into good ones and those that need repairing. And the club’s storeroom needs a major clean-out and reorganizing,” says ACYC Commodore Grenville Fordham.

He called for any sailors who have their dinghies sitting on the club’s jetty floats to please make alternative arrangements as the floats under the dinghies will be removed on Saturday.

“The club needs these floats to keep the jetty in good repair,” said Mr Fordham.

He also called for any yachties with items stored in the club storeroom to please remove them before Saturday.

“The storeroom is needed to run the club and as there is currently no members’ storage facility. Anything in the storeroom that does not belong to the club will be removed on Saturday,” he said.

Any persons able to join the cleanup are urged to call Mick Kealy on 081-3960785 as soon as possible, or to visit acyc-phuket.com.
