Party poopers: Bang Lamung police arrest two men in drug bust
In a dramatic late-night raid, Bang Lamung police arrested two Thai men after a tip-off revealed an audacious plan to deliver a massive haul of drugs to local pool villa parties. The operation unfolded around 11pm yesterday, October 14, leading to the detention of 29 year olds Aree Watanasuksawat and Supap Phahonpaet, who are now under suspicion of distributing a staggering 2.76 kilogrammes of illegal substances.
Officers seized a jaw-dropping 990 grammes of crystal methamphetamine and a whopping 1,770 grammes of ketamine, all cleverly concealed in a black bag. The police had been on high alert, conducting a meticulous stakeout at a rental room until the suspects arrived. Once confirmed, the officers pounced and apprehended the pair before they could make their delivery, reported Pattaya News.
During questioning, the suspects claimed they were simply hired hands working for a man named “Per,” who allegedly promised them 70,000 baht each for the job. They insisted they were clueless about Per’s full identity or how to reach him.
“We were just delivering the goods for Per. We don’t know anything more,” Aree said.
The duo now faces serious charges of possession of Category 1 drugs with intent to distribute. Both the suspects and the seized drugs have been handed over to investigators, who are set to take further legal action.
In related news, Bang Lamung police apprehended four suspects who had been involved in stealing large machinery from a recycling factory in the Bang Lamung area. Acting on a tip-off from the factory owner, who reported that several individuals were stealing and damaging property, over 20 officers moved in and caught the suspects in the act, attempting to move steel pipes weighing nearly 20 kilogrammes.
The suspects, identified as 35 year old Wacharakorn, 33 year old Krailas, 54 year old Somsak, and 22 year old Chaichana, were found with cutting tools, a Toyota pickup truck, and other equipment used in the theft.
