Chiang Rai: The Mu Pa boys are on their way out – Governor

A mission to evacuate the missing Mu Pa footballers and their coach who have been trapped for more than two weeks in Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district began at 10am this morning (Sunday), the mission chief said.

“Today is the D-day. The boys are ready to face any challenges,” Narongsak Osottanakorn told reporters near the cave site.

The rescue team members have already entered the cave at 10am and the boys are expected to come out of the cave starting at 9pm tonight.

It is still unclear how many of the boys will be extracted today. Earlier reports stated that only those who are 100 per cent strong will come first. Today some reports claimed the first group will comprise four boys.

The route has been prepared with a range of triage locations along the way to better cope with any emergencies if necessary.
