PHUKET: The first group of Thai workers evacuated from Libya will arrive in Thailand tomorrow, Employment Department chief Sumet Mohosot said yesterday.

The 18 workers, who were employed by Swiss watch-making company Delma, were scheduled to leave Libya yesterday and arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12.25pm tomorrow via Dubai.

The number of workers and their arrival time might change depending on vacant seats on the flight, Sumet said, adding that details would be confirmed when the tickets are booked.

His department will send officials to facilitate their re-entry to the country and provide more help if needed.

In Israel meanwhile, Thai labourers have been evacuated from a risky area near the Gaza Strip, the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv reported yesterday.

The embassy said that of the 136 labourers who had asked to be evacuated, 10 were still waiting and 37 had changed their minds.
