High stakes, high escapes: Pattaya police hit the jackpot in drug bust
Pattaya police raided a gambling den yesterday, uncovering a significant stash of drugs after the suspects made a swift getaway. At around 12.15pm, yesterday, October 6, officers targeted a small gambling operation tucked away in a parking lot on Soi 3 near Jomtien Beach, following numerous complaints from residents.
As the police approached the scene in a pickup truck, they encountered a civilian vehicle blocking their path. Undeterred, the officers leapt from their vehicle and dashed towards the gambling site.
Instead of finding gamblers in action, they were met by a group of suspected drug dealers who, in a panic, scattered a large quantity of methamphetamine and crystal meth across the street before making a hasty escape in all directions, reported Pattaya News.
Despite their best efforts to chase down the fleeing suspects, police were unable to apprehend anyone. Returning to the site of the raid, they discovered only a red table, devoid of any gambling equipment or players.
In total, police confiscated more than ten packets of drugs neatly packed in ziplock bags. The police are now focused on identifying the owners of the drugs to take appropriate legal action.
In related news, a woman high on drugs in Pattaya sparked chaos when she locked herself in a hotel bathroom, leading to a dramatic police intervention. Pattaya police yesterday, October 6 received reports about a Thai woman who had barricaded herself inside after her rental period had ended, refusing to vacate the premises.
When officers arrived, they spent over 30 minutes trying to negotiate with the woman but she ignored their pleas, screaming, shouting, and cursing in response. Eventually, the police had to call in a locksmith to force the door open and detain her.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, appeared highly agitated and delirious, resisting arrest and rolling on the floor while incoherently shouting, reported Pattaya News.
A search of her hotel room revealed a cannabis bong and several unidentified substances. Hotel staff reported that she had been staying at the establishment for five days but refused to check out when her rental period expired.
