Thai netizens are outraged at a foreign couple who crashed their luxury car into a motorcycle in Phuket but ignored the injured rider and focused only on the damage to their vehicle.

The CCTV footage of the incident was shared widely on several social media platforms yesterday, April 25, showing a white Mercedes Benz sedan making a right turn without signalling. The motorcycle rider, who was travelling in the opposite direction, was unable to stop and collided with the front of the car.

The motorcyclist was thrown across the luxury car and later fell on the road. Luckily, the rider wore a helmet helping him avoid a head injury.

While the rider sat injured on the road, the foreign couple exited their car and immediately inspected the damage, seemingly unconcerned about the person they had hit.

The accident reportedly occurred in Phuket but there was no report on the exact location where it happened. One Thai netizen claimed that the couple were the guests of Vivi Hotel in the Rawai district of Phuket and the accident took place at the hotel’s entrance.

Phuket Times also shared the video yesterday and it garnered attention from Thai netizens leading to more than 3,900 reactions and 500 comments on the Phuket Times’ post. Most of the netizens condemned the foreign couple’s action.

“They see Thai people as second-class citizens because they are rich. They think that Thai laws are under the power of money. Thai government may treat them like this until they believe that they are superior.”

“It is strange that foreigners really respect the laws when they are at home but do not care about the laws when in Thailand.”

“Don’t let this case die down. Foreigners think they can do anything in Thailand if they have money. Our laws are so weak.”

“Phuket likes rich farang!”

“Now, you know how foreigners really look at us.”

The news agency did not provide an update on the story regarding whether the foreign couple offered assistance to the injured rider or faced charges for their actions.
