Man returns 75,500 baht he found at Bangkok ATM
A Thai man was praised for his honesty after he returned 75,500 baht he found at a Bangkok petrol station cash machine to its rightful owner.
Lampakchee Police Station announced on its official Facebook page that Abdulrorsa Alqasim, a 22 year old Thai man, is a model citizen and an inspiration to the Lampakchee community for returning the money to its owner.
On Sunday, April 2 at around 6pm, Abdulrorsa told police that he had visited a petrol station on Chueam Samphan Road in Bangkok’s Nong Chok district to withdraw money from Siam Commercial Bank’s ATM. When he was about to begin his transaction, he noticed that some money had been left behind in the cash dispenser. He removed it, completed his banking, and took the money to the Lampakchee Police Station to find its owner.
Police officers investigated the case and discovered that the owner of the money was a Thai man named Kriangsak Kliangtrakoon. Officers contacted Kriangsak who immediately rushed to the police station to retrieve the money.
Kriangsak revealed that he went to the petrol station to deposit his money. He thought his transaction was successful and left the ATM without checking. He expressed his gratitude to Abdulrorsa for his honesty and to the Lampakchee Police Station for their assistance in the matter.
The Superintendent of the Lampakchee Police Station, Nirutchapon Yothamart, stated that Abdulrorsa deserved to be honoured for his action. The police station offered him the certificate to praise his act.
Last year, a truck driver accidentally scattered 100,000 baht while driving on the road in the Isaan province of Khon Kaen. The driver realised his mistake only when he arrived at his destination. Luckily, several drivers who witnessed the incident parked their cars on the roadside and rushed to gather the money and return it to the owner.
They managed to collect about 92,000 baht, but the other 8,000 baht had gone due to the strong wind. The money was returned successfully with the help of the police. One of the drivers posted a video of the moment when they collected money on TikTok. Watch the video HERE.
