A petrol station attendant attempted to sexually assault a woman after pretending to help her with directions. The incident occurred near a community road in Ayutthaya. The suspect, a 37 year old Myanmar national, was subsequently arrested and charged by local police.

The incident involved a 29 year old woman (anonymous), who was riding her motorcycle to visit a friend but got lost when her GPS led her astray. She encountered the suspect, who offered to guide her. However, upon reaching a secluded area, the suspect reportedly kicked her motorcycle, causing her to fall. Fortunately, a passerby arrived in time to help, preventing the assault.

The event unfolded late yesterday, October 2, near a community road in Ayutthaya. Local police chief Chotiwat Luangwilai announced the arrest of the suspect, identified as So Tho Win, a petrol station employee on Rojana Road.

Chotiwat added that the suspect had a history of making inappropriate comments about women’s physical appearances, including female colleagues, and had previously engaged in sexual harassment.

The police investigation team from Ayutthaya brought So Tho Win to the crime scene. During questioning, he claimed that he had not assaulted the victim. He stated that she had asked for help with her GPS, and he guided her until they reached the location where the incident occurred.

According to his account, the woman questioned the destination, and he suggested they go to his room instead, which led to a conversation about taking a shower and engaging in intimate acts.

“I told her we could do it here. I took off my trousers, and she tried to take off hers but couldn’t because of her shoes. I helped her, but then a vehicle arrived, and she ran for help. I left without doing anything.”

Further examination of CCTV footage showed the suspect fleeing the scene and heading towards Pathum Thani province. The footage also revealed that he had followed another woman on a motorcycle. However, she managed to evade him by entering a village alleyway, potentially avoiding another assault.

The police have charged So Tho Win with attempted rape, indecent assault of a person over the age of 15 through threats or violence, and unlawful detention or imprisonment. He will be prosecuted accordingly, reported KhaoSod.
