More fire jellyfish found off Krabi
More of the fire jellyfish have been found at the beach at Koh Hong between Krabi and Koh Yao Noi.
The Chief of Than Bok Khorani National Park, Jampen Pompakdee, and his team collected the poisonous (nasty stings but unlikely to be fatal) fire jellyfish floating along the coast of the Hong Island beach.
“The number of fire jellyfish found on the beach comes from the changing direction of the wind and the strong waves hitting Hong Island beach, which bring these jellyfish closer to shore and washes them up on the beaches,” he said.
“We have rushed to scoop them up from the sea and remove them from the beach to try and ensure the beachgoers and swimmers won’t get stung.
“I would like to warn, if anybody see the jellyfish, do not touch them and if you do get stung or have allergies, please consult with a doctor immediately.”
He advised that the beach is expected to be calmer within a week and the jellyfish are expected to be gone by that time.
