Beach vendors raided on Koh Racha

Umbrellas and other beach vendors’ products have been seized during a beach management enforcement at Patok Bay on Koh Racha Yai, south of Phuket.

There were 6 vendors who were charged for breaking the law by renting umbrellas and mats while also selling other items on the beach area. Umbrellas, mats, floating devices, snorkeling masks, surf boards, waterproof phone bags and swimsuits were seized at the scene.

However, after checking 50 boats parked at the beach front, the beach management officials didn’t find any of them anchored in the prohibited area and they didn’t find any tour companies allowing sea walking activities neither (walking on the sea bed).

Koh Racha is counted as one of the 33 restricted areas for beaches, according to Phuket Beach Management policy of 2015.

There are another 9 beaches that are allowed to have 10% zone with umbrellas and beach lounges as well as vendors and masseurs and one beach (Surin Beach) that is prohibited for any vendors, masseurs, umbrellas or lounges entirely.
